Mini Infotel 2009 – SLCVA’s first regional event for the Year of ICT and English, 2009 in Kurunegala .   

Mini Infotel 2009 - the regional exhibition for the ICT Industry is a key event being organized by the Sri Lanka Computer Vendors Association in the Year of ICT and English, 2009. The association proposes to take the message of ICT to the regions through a series of Exhibitions and Career Guidance programs. As always these events have created a large impact on the community specially in this era where Information and Communications Technology is fast becoming an essential part of the community.

The main objective of this event is to create awareness among the students and the general public, of the developments in technology and its applications in everyday life, opportunities for business and for Employment and Careers in ICT . An associated event will be a Career Guidance Seminar for career seekers and tertiary/secondary school students in the province. The exhibition will provide an opportunity for advertising and promoting products and services and gaining business benefits giving an impetus to the business community in this period of economic downturn.

The Exhibition dates are planned for 26th to 27th Sept 2009 ,  at St Anne’s College, Kurunegala premises with 3 sessions of Career Guidance seminars on Saturday 26th Sept 2009 , in the main hall of St Anne’s College,  Kurunegala. The co-orgainisers of this event are the SLCVA North Western Province and the ‘99 OBA of St Annes College Kurunegala.  

Computers and accessories Vendors , Software developing companies,  ICT Training Institutes and other supporting agencies such as banks , government institutions and international ICT companies who are operating in the provinces as well as from Colombo and other main cities are expected to participate in the exhibition showcasing a wide range of innovations and applications.

The objective of the Career Guidance seminar is to create a greater awareness about Career opportunities in the ICT sector. Lecture session will be conducted by specialists in ICT education and Careers . Through the exhibition career seekers and visitors will be made aware of the professional & academic training courses available for tertiary students and young school leavers and one to one guidance on areas of interest.  

The event is endorsed by the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka with Intel Inc. Sri Lanka and eSys Technologies  Lanka Pvt. Ltd as sponsors. The organizers hope to reach a large and growing ICT savvy population in the North Western province and adjoining regions . In the past, Mini Infotel exhibitions have been held in Gampaha, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala and Matara where the regional communities have benefited largely. ICT professionals, vendors, corporate clients, public service sector, end users and students have been among the large number of visitors recorded in increasing numbers. The SLCVA invites all businesses involved in ICT , the general public , students and career seekers to be a part of this event !
